Gosford

Gosford

Gosford offers something a little different: Meanforme’s take on the traditional boat shoe. The hex eyelets, leather laces and low-slung height give it a familiar boat profile, but in every other respect it is distinctly Meanforme. Every version is made from Conceria Opera reverse cow suede, one of Europe’s finest suedes. Gosford is designed for barefoot comfort and flexibility, achieved through its Sacchetto construction, a premium Italian shoemaking technique known for its softness and ease of movement. Meaning “little bag,” Sacchetto describes the way the upper is stitched directly to a soft leather lining that sits under the footbed, creating a sock-like enclosure without a rigid insole board. This traditional method avoids hard components such as metal attachments, fibre board and glue, resulting in a shoe that is exceptionally soft and flexible. Each pair of Gosford comes with two sets of laces, a removable cushioned footbed, and a partitioned cotton Meanforme drawstring storage bag.

Our Little bag construction

Gosford isn’t made like most shoes, it is constructed using a little-known method of shoe making called Sacchetto. Sacchetto shoe construction is a premium Italian shoemaking technique, renowned for its flexibility and comfort. The term "Sacchetto," which translates to "little bag," aptly describes the distinctive engineering involved in the making of Gosford. Rather than incorporating a rigid insole, the upper part of the shoe is meticulously stitched to a soft leather lining, creating a "sock-like" enclosure.
