Designed in Manchester, Albermarle is our take on the classic two-eyelet tie shoe. Perhaps the closest we've come to creating a full-on Wallabee, but as you'd expect, we didn't stop there.
Easy does it
Handcrafted in Portugal from Italian Sciarada Castoro reverse cow suede, Albermarle takes a familiar silhouette and gives it a distinctly Meanforme character. A relaxed-height upper keeps things easy, while our signature collar flap adds the unexpected detail that makes it unmistakably ours.
Sacchetto flexibility
Our Sacchetto construction removes the need for a traditional rigid insole board. This allows Albermarle to move more naturally with the foot. Finished with our lightweight natural crepe rubber sole, the result is a shoe that's exceptionally soft, flexible and easy on the foot.
Comfort in crepe
Soft underfoot, lightweight, and naturally flexible, Albermarle feels easy from the first wear. The natural crepe sole and removable cushioned footbed give the shoe its relaxed, comfortable character.
Small batch thinking
Every pair of Albermarle passes through 63 skilled hands on its journey through our factory. From the first cut of the leather to final inspection and packing, each stage adds another small piece to the finished shoe.
Cut, shaped, stitched and finished in small production runs, Albermarle comes together slowly — great raw materials transformed through skill, patience and a lot of human touch into something worthy of the Meanforme name.
Bringing It All Together
Premium Italian suede, leather footbeds, threads, laces, and natural crepe are individually cut, prepared, and brought together by skilled hands to make one pair of Albermarle.
Each Albermarle sole begins its life as a 6mm-thick sheet of natural crepe rubber and is then given to a highly skilled artisan with Olympic-level thumb strength.
